If you don’t stretch after you workout, you are doing yourself and your body a huge disservice. Stretching is essential to helping your muscles recover from the stress and exertion you put them through with a workout. Post workout stretching is one of the biggest things I see people ignore at the gym.
After my last kickboxing class, I took the time to do a post workout stretching routine, and my instructor actually took the time to come over and tell me how awesome it was that I was taking the time to stretch. I just told him, “Well, I want to be able to walk this weekend.” It’s true, if you don’t stretch after your workout, you’re setting yourself up for muscle pain and it will take longer for your body to recuperate.

I’ve noticed that taking the time to stretch post workout has actually helped me with balance and flexibility. The more I try to reach for my toes, the closer I get.
